Active Flows:

River as Agent for New Climate Infrastructure

Location: Hartford, Connecticut

As the longest river in the New England, the Connecticut River watershed is home to approximately two million people and hosts the most productive agricultural lands in the northeast.

Brief: Anthropogenic forces have forever altered the natural identity of the Connecticut River. As our climates shift and uncertainity as to future of our landscapes are looming, there lies an opportunity to envision a new infrastructure , an ecological one that acknowledges the rich cultural, historical, natural history of the river while also anticipating the future.

Design: The proposal focuses on redevelopment along Connecticut River in Hartford downtown. It aims at renaturalizing the edge and connecting communities to the river.
